We’re Back At The Back To School Fair

Accident & Injury Chiropractic has the pleasure once again to help sponsor the Mayor’s Back to School Fair. Pictured above is our own Dr. Lou Saucedo and Rebecca Velez who were at the Mayor’s Back To School Fair press conference today. Here’s a picture of them with our new mayor Eric Johnson. Below is some history of the event, how to get involved, when and where is, how to register to get school supplies and more.

Nearly 23 years ago, former Dallas Mayor and U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk held the inaugural Mayor’s Back to School Fair (MBTSF) that attracted about 1,000 people and a dozen or so organizations. Thanks to the continued support of former Mayor Mike Rawlings and past Mayors Laura Miller and Tom Leppert along with local community partners, sponsors and nonprofits, the event has grown to annually draw attendance of around 35,000 people.

Today, it is a popular annual event that provides Dallas students and families with essential back-to-school supplies, health screenings and services, and an array of bilingual information from educational, social, government and community organizations. The Fair is a collaborative effort between the City of Dallas, Dallas-area schools, public health department, state agencies, nonprofits, corporations, and community volunteers.

The 23rd annual Mayor’s Back to School Fair presented by Walmart is scheduled for Friday, August 2, 2019 from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the Centennial Building at Fair Park in Dallas. The free event provides schoolchildren and their families with school supplies and other back-to-school essentials necessary to return to school ready and equipped for a successful academic year. The Fair is a collaborative effort between the City of Dallas, Dallas-area schools, public health department, state agencies, nonprofits, corporations, and community volunteers.

Get Involved

There are many ways to get involved with the Mayor’s Back to School Fair whether it be as a sponsor, exhibitor or community partner. We hope your organization will consider joining us in our cause.

Event Sponsorship

For organizations interested in having a brand presence including logo recognition with the fair, setting up a premier customized exhibit booth onsite or creating a special employee volunteer experience, there are various opportunities available. For more information on program sponsorship levels and benefits, please contact Angela Shellene at ashellene@thereedsprc.com

How to Register

Families can register for free school supplies the following ways: pre-register online May 20 – June 30, attend a pre‑registration event in July, or register on‑site the day of the fair on August 2.  Families who pre‑register will save time entering the Fair and be given a voucher that will guarantee their school supplies on August. The person who pre‑registers is not required to attend the fair. In fact, the school supply voucher can be sent with any person to pick up the school supplies. Also, while children are encouraged to come enjoy the fair and take advantage of the many services available, their attendance is not required to pick up their school supplies.

There’s a lot more information on the event’s website so go there to find out everything. We’d like to personally thank all the other sponsors, volunteers, and others who make this amazing event happen.
